In 1995, the employees of the Ottawa Municipal Works department moved from their long time downtown home on Bayview, to a brand new facility on Swansea Crescent in an industrial area of Ottawa.

I was one of the five artists chosen to produce a permanent artwork for the new location of the Ottawa Municipal Works Building.

My contribution was to document the old facilities at Bayview (which were old enough to have had stables for transportation by horse) with an emphasis on the the personalization of the workspace by the workers.

My aim was to highlight the value of the past, as well as the value of the lives lived in the old facility, and to bring these reminders to the main hall of the new site.
