Acupuncture, from Somerset Suite, 2000, digital original to print, Bearings, 2001

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the artist-run center Gallery 101, the director, François Dion, invited four photographers to make a series of images on the subject of 'Ottawa', the home of the gallery.
The other photographers were: Jeff Thomas, Marlene Creates and David Dybiec.

Since I live in Ottawa's Chinatown, I decided to photograph Somerset street at night, as a personal wink to my ealiest work: Vancouver's east end and Chinatown at night. This time, however, I concentrated on the eclectic nature of the architecture and the lack of unified urban design, reflecting the rich and diversified history of that street. I saw the series as "the other side" of Ottawa.
